Liuxia Street is located in Xihu District, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province. Originally named Xixi, Liuxia Street got its current name based on a record in the Qing Dynasty's Qiantang County Chronicles during the reign of Emperor Guangxu. It states, "In July of the third year of the Jianyan reign (1129 AD) of the Song Dynasty, Emperor Gaozong crossed the river south and stayed in Xixi. Initially, he intended to establish the capital here but later found Fenghuang Mountain and said, 'Let's leave Xixi behind.'" Therefore, the name "Liuxia" was given and has been used ever since.
